Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy
What is Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy?
Using ultrasound for guidance, a fine wire and catheter are passed into the vein requiring treatment. We inject a detergent substance, which acts to denature the inner lining to collapse the vein and prevent blood from passing through it.
This helps in reducing the pressure and build-up of deoxygenated blood in the legs that would otherwise pressurise and stain the skin.
What do we use Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy for?
Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy is used to treat Varicose Veins.
We also offer Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy through our treatment centre at Sydney Specialist Vein Center.
