What is Vein Stripping?

By incisions through the skin, the incompetent or pressurised veins with ‘leaky valves’ are tied off and at times removed completely. 

If there is a long incompetent Great Saphenous Vein this may be tied off at the level of the groin and stripped out through another incision at the level of the knee.
