Stenting of Narrowed Arteries

What is Stenting of Narrowed Arteries (Carotid Stenting)?

Through a small needle entering the artery in the groin (the femoral artery), using very fine wires and catheters, a collapsed stent is inserted into the artery in the neck.

This stent is deployed through the narrowing allowing the plaque (blockages) and narrowing to be pushed back and improve the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain.
