Endovenous Thermal Ablation
(Laser or Radiofrequency)

What is Endovenous Thermal Ablation?

Through a very fine needle into the vein in the leg, using ultrasound guidance, a fine wire and catheter are passed into the vein that is faulty or incompetent.

Over this wire a thermal catheter (either utilizing laser or radiofrequency) is introduced inside the vein and ablates or burns the inner lining, rendering it permanently blocked and eventually scarred. This helps in reducing the pressure and build-up of deoxygenated blood in the legs that would otherwise pressurise and stain the skin.
