Endovascular Stenting of Aneurysms

What is Endovascular Stenting of the Aneurysm?

A collapsed stent is inserted into the artery with the aneurysm through a small needle entering the groin (the femoral artery), using very fine wires and catheters.

It is positioned above and below the aneurysm. The stent is covered with plastic on the outside and allows blood to pass through it but not around it. This excludes the aneurysm from blood flow and prevents the risk of the aneurysm from bursting or rupturing whilst allowing the artery to continue delivering blood to the rest of the body.
